Betsy Kay Askew

I’m proudly from Houston and lived in Austin from 2007 to 2024. For the past two years, I’ve been calling Taylor, Texas home.

I started making street art when I was 18 as part of a collective called the Loli Pauperz. We painted on wood boards and bolted them up around Houston and Austin. Around that same time, I also began painting on paper, developing my own style and characters and putting them up around the city using wheat paste a technique I feel lucky to have discovered early on.

I went by the street name “B Kay,” a nickname my dad gave me when I was a kid. Around 2008, my good friend Graham added “All Day,” and it stuck. I’ve been creating under the name B Kay All Day ever since.

The characters I paint are usually reflections of what’s inspiring or challenging me in the moment. My drive to create mostly comes from the amazing people in my life, with the ultimate goal of making people happy. If my art can make even one person smile, I’ve done my job.

Street art has become a major part of my identity. Without it, I’d feel lost. Painting and placing my work around the city helped tame and heal my anxious mind, keeping me grounded through the years.

Now that I live in Taylor, I’ve stepped away from street art and have been focusing more deeply on creating work in the studio, primarily on canvas.
