Veronica Ortuño

Veronica is an artist based in Elgin, Texas, where she works from her studio, Casa Veronica. Her practice moves between functional design and sculptural installation. Working with clay drawn directly from the earth, she examines how element, touch, and time record presence.

Drawing from her Chicana-Indígena lens, Ortuño engages ancestry as both lived experience and structural force. Whether through hand-painted lamps, vessels, or ceramic paintings, her pieces feel grounded yet expansive.

Her recent installation, All Flowers in Time Bend Towards the Sun, reflects on grief, continuity, and the enduring influence of ancestral women. Across her practice, clay functions as both archive and offering, a material through which history is shaped and carried forward.
