Kayla Rangel

My affinity for plants, gardening, and the natural world guide my artistic practice in acrylic, watercolor, bead embroidery, and most recently, stained glass. The same passion led my husband and myself to reside on a rural farm outside of Taylor—space to admire, connect, and grow with nature. As I create, I aim to capture and hold space for my own experience with themes of whimsy, nostalgia, and peaceful, intimate reflection of nature’s beauty, in all her finite details. Much of my artwork has served as connecting, meaningful gifts to loved ones, or adorns my own walls, but in the last handful of years, I have worked to claim my title as an artist whose work may be appreciated by a wider audience of strangers (whoa, vulnerable). I am eager to continue building community with other artists, as I have with involvement at The Artisan’s Mercantile in Taylor. Looking forward creatively, I hope to broaden my subject matter to evoke and connect with deeper emotions, as well as continue exploring mediums (next up, pottery).
